I was recently invited to join the Scientific Committee for AMWC Korea 2027. My role will focus on Business, Marketing and Innovation.

It is a role that sits well alongside my existing involvement with the AMWC Southeast Asia Scientific Review Board, and it reflects something I have felt strongly about: business education has an important place within aesthetic medicine.

Clinical education will always be central to congresses, but running a successful clinic requires business acumen too.

Clinic owners make decisions about pricing, patient experience, communication, retention, technology, treatment menus, staffing, marketing and increasingly, AI. They are also doing this in a market where competition is greater, costs are higher and patients are becoming more considered about where they spend.

These commercial pressures also affect the patient expertience too.

How a clinic communicates value, manages expectations, structures the patient journey and introduces new services can all influence whether a patient feels confident enough to book, return and recommend.  The pressure many practitioners feel is increasing, so there's a real need for effective, ethical business education.

That is why I think business and practice management education deserves to sit alongside clinical content at major aesthetic medicine congresses, and why practitioners should add practice management streams to their conference agenda.

Over the past few years I have spoken internationally on subjects including patient journey design, ethical communication and sales, patient retention, the consultation and commercial decision-making. Being invited to contribute as part of the AMWC Korea Scientific Committee to develop the congress programme is a natural extension of that work.

I am looking forward to supporting AMWC Korea in 2027, while continuing my involvement with AMWC Southeast Asia, and helping shape practical business education that is genuinely useful to clinics and practitioners across the world.
